My friend, who is staying with me over the weekend, because his parents are outta town, came into my room, & said to me. "Uh, Dan, you aren't gonna believe this, but I accidentally, sorta, flushed my cellphone down your toilet."
I'm like "WHAT? How the hell did you manage to do that?"
"Uh, it kinda fell outta might pocket while I wasn't looking, somehow, & I guess, I wasn't paying attention & musta flushed it down."
I said to him "Don't worry, I sure it is covered by AT&T's 'Accidentally flushing it down the toilet' warranty."
I cracked up so hard, I had tears in my eyes.
He got the phone on Friday, nice slider phone with a QWERTY keyboard. He was so happy to get a phone with a keyboard.
I'm thinking to myself "How the hell can someone drop their phone in a toilet & not notice a loud splashing sound when they are standing?"

Your right, how did he not here the splash?

IDK, but when he came into class, we teased him about it.
When he went to the restroom, someone said "Don't drop your iPod in the toilet." I have some good ones.
"I called Norton & he told me he found it floating by him in the sewer." (We both love the Honeymooners.)
He now finds it funny what happened. I gave him 1 of my old phones I have lying around in my desk, because his old 1, (the 1 he had before the toilet incident) was so old.
I am still laughing about it. :3)3)

I will edit the photo & make a b'day card out of it.

Hero Hudson River pilot Sully retiring
Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who guided US Airways Flight 1549 to safety on the Hudson River in Jan '09, is retiring from the company Wed.
Sully, 59, joined the company in '80. He successfully ditched the flight, which was scheduled from LGA to CLT, in the Hudson after the plane struck a flock of geese & lost engine power shortly after takeoff.
Flight attendant Doreen Welsh, who helped the 150 passengers to safety on the flight, also is retiring.
"I am extremely proud of Sully & Doreen for their quick thinking & courageous actions," said Chairman & CEO Doug Parker. "We'll miss them & thank them for all they have given to our customers during their years of service with our airline."

Two of the World's Oldest People Die on Same Day

Sunday was a sad day for supercentenarians: 2 of the 10 oldest people in the world died within a 24-hour span.

"3/7/10, will go down in history as the 1st time 2 top-10 supercentenarians died on the same day," said Robert Young, of the Gerontology Research Group. "This is a very elite group, the very top of the population pyramid."

Mary Josephine Ray, certified by the research group as the oldest person living in the US & 2nd oldest in the world, died early Sunday at a nursing home in Westmoreland, NH. She was 114Y 294D old.

Hours later, Daisey Bailey, the oldest living black person in the world & the 5th oldest person in the world, died at 10:03pm in DET, Young said. Born March 30, 1896, in Tennessee, she was 113Y & 342D old, Young said. The gerontology group certified her age using 2 Censuses, but her family believes she was born on the same day 1 year earlier, he added.

"It's sad." Young said. "Mary Josephine was looking forward to 115," & Bailey had a 114th birthday party coming up.

Bailey, who suffered from dementia for the last 10yrs, liked to garden & spend time with friends & family, said her granddaughter & caretaker Helen Arnold. "She was a sweet person," Arnold said. "She just enjoyed life & people."

Growing up on a farm in TN, Bailey helped heat the house the old-fashioned way. "She used to carry the wood on her shoulders," Arnold said. She also ironed & washed clothes to earn money for the family. Bailey had 4 children & outlived them all. "She was like a mother to me," said Arnold, 73. Although Mary Josephine hadn't been feeling well in recent weeks, she recently got dressed & got into her wheelchair to give an interview to a reporter. "She loved all the attention," her daughter-in-law, Barbara Ray, told the NH Union Leader.

"She just enjoyed life," her granddaughter, Katherine Ray, told The AP. "She never thought of dying at all. She was planning for her birthday party."

"I think we're going to miss her; she was a big part of our day," Trisha Moore, a licensed nursing assistant at the Maplewood County Nursing Home, told the Union Leader. Moore said Ray was pleased when a girl wrote her to ask for her autograph. "When she got mail from fans, she got really excited," Moore told the paper. Ray was born in Canada's Prince Edward Island on May 17, 1895. She moved to the US at age 3 & lived for 60 years in ME. She moved to Westmoreland in 2002 to be near her children. With Ray's death, the oldest living American is Neva Morris of Ames, IW, at 114Y, 216D. The world's oldest person is Japan's Kama Chinen. She is 114Y, 301D, a week older than Ray was.

The gerontology group, which studies why the oldest people live as long as they do, now has 75 validated super centenarians worldwide, those at least 110 or older. 72 are women.

Imagine living to 1895. When she was born, McKinley was president. She was born before the Yankees were even the Baltimore Orioles.

I don't think I would want to live that long. It would to be nice to see how the next century would be like. I would also like to see if they had flying cars and the technology they invent. Other than that I must admit that the movie Idiocracy has some interesting views on the future.

I knew someone who lived to 105, died a few years ago. When he turned 100, he had a party & told me the worst part is outliving all your friends, old coworkers, sometimes your kids, & people you are close with. He said most of his friends at that point were 20 years younger than him.

NYC's oldest dies at 111

NYC's oldest resident, SI supercentenarian Jane "Jenny" E. Gilsenan, died yesterday in the Presentation Convent Mother House in Woodrow. She was 111. Gilsenan was 1 of the oldest people in the world.

"I'm lucky to live as long as I have so far," the super-centenarian told the Post in Feb. from her home in a SI convent. "I had nothing to do with it. It was wished on me."

Gilsenan never married. She is survived by many nieces & nephews, & grandnieces & grandnephews. Gilsenan's death comes a day after the death of the nation's oldest person, Mary Josephine Ray, 114, who died in her sleep Sun. Just a few hours later, Daisey Bailey, who was 113, died in DET, as the US's 2nd oldest person.

Even though it is sad all these people are dying, it is amazing they lived so long.

Julius Hodge is disappointing. If it was up to me I'd rather give Anthony Morrow a training camp invitation.

Anthony Morrow is really good in these summer league games. He could be one of those "fallen angels".

Any of you guys play any pick up games lately?
It's been absolutely gorgeous for the past two days.  Snows are melting fast and I played a pick up game on Sunday.  Haven't played for a while but I still had my shot (not).  :lBG

After several weeks (it was exam period) I finally got to play with my friends at the local gym today. And it was great!!! We played 4-4 full court (not a regular court...a bit smaller). I have never played that well vs. them. You gotta take into account that I'm the shortest guy, and that the average age of those guys is something like 22 or 23. But today it was perfect. Threepointers, assists, steals, crazy lay-ups (it happened quite often that they congratulated me on a certain move). I don't wanna boast with that. I just wanna share my impressions. Can't wait to our next pick-up games.

The goal for this season: The ability to make alley-oops. I've had enough of that. I'm stretching my hand over the rim but can't connect on the alley-oop. I gotta improve right here!

I've lived in India. I don't mind the Summer at all. Love it. Just wish Indians knew how to ball better than they do, would be playing all day.

I have yet to receive my free copy of the 2009 World Series Program from MLB Insiders Club.

Finally got it.

To quote Comic Book Guy "slowest delivery service ever."
I finally received it 136 days after the World Series started.

I'll read it then give it to my teacher. It was gonna be his b'day present, but it was in November.

Peter Graves: March 18, 1926 – March 14, 2010

Peter Graves, the tall, stalwart actor best known for his portrayal of Jim Phelps, leader of a team of special agents who battled evil conspirators in the '60s television series "Mission: Impossible," died yesterday. Graves died of a heart attack outside his LA home, about a week shy of his 84th birthday, said his publicist.

Although he never achieved the stardom his older brother, James Arness, enjoyed on TV's "Gunsmoke," he had some memorable roles. He turned in an unforgettable performance early in his career as the treacherous Nazi spy in the '53 prisoner-of-war drama "Stalag 17." He also masterfully lampooned his straight-arrow image when he portrayed bumbling airline pilot Clarence Oveur in "Airplane!"
