The final evaluation thread.

How would you grade their 2008-2009 NBA season?

B-

Most of the moves were good. Signing Najera to a 4 year, partial guaranteed contract was questionable. I didn't like the RJ trade but I understand where they are coming from. Signing Hayes to the Lower Level Exception with a team option for the 2nd year was great. Drafting Brook Lopez was obviously a great pick at the time and still is. Picking Ryan at #21 was a little high IMO. I still liked the pick though. Seeing Douglas-Roberts drop to #40 was a thrill. I didn't he would get past the 1st round. CDR will be something in this league for a long time. I'm glad we got him, especially with the 40th pick. The Nets have a great future. Using the trade exception(Kidd trade) to get Keyon Dooling was great too. I loved Dooling even before he came to Jersey. Was very excited when the sign & trade happened. Underrated combo guard.

Very interested in seeing what they have in store for us this offseason. Very important one. Going to keep Carter or trade him? Trade the first round pick? Make a flash in the FA? Forget 2010 and pick up a star from a team that wants to shed salary? New Coach(Even though Thorn made it public that he will keep him doesn't mean he can't change his mind)?

Offseason???
Uhh, we basically already did that. And it states 08-09 season, thats not the offseason. You can't judge the front office during the season, enless they makes major trades.

Well, they did if I'm not mistaken. Swift got released. Sean got sent down to the D-League. Decision to keep Sean on the team after the two problems that occurred. Not trading VC. Not trading for a player that could've got us to the playoffs(Miller, Salmons, etc).

:OC: are you seriously going to judge them on that? Mchale wasn't going to trade Miller, I don't even think we were interesting in Salmons. And we weren't going to just give Carter away. releasing Swift, and sending sean down. Lets be serious here ace, those were not even major moves that helped or damaged the team...

You said it and I gave you something to grade. :SG I'm not talking Mike. I'm talking Brad. And yes we were interested in both Salmons & Miller. Hassell, Anderson, and other pieces for Miller, & Salmons were discussed right before the trade deadline.

C
Good Draft Picks, Dooling and Hayes, but trading RJ was HORRIBLE. Yi and Simmons Suck. They could have gotten rid of Swift before the season, and kept Nenad Kristic

I would be hard pressed to give them a C when they went 3 for 3 in the draft which is hard to do and signed Dooling and Hayes who were our best players off the bench.

I was looking at the Yearbook this past Shabbos and the only roster change was waiving Swift. It was all the same players. I thought when I bought it that a few players would be traded by the Deadline.
